The Property Magazine wins SAPOA Journalism Award

SAPOA At the 40th annual SAPOA Convention held in Cape Town this year, The Property Magazine won the coveted Publication of the Year Award. This was the first time that The Property Magazine had been considered for the SAPOA awards.

“We are so proud to have been named Best Property Publication. This award from SAPOA means an enormous amount, considering the competition we were up against,” says editor, Ann Ellis Brown. “I’d like to thank the team at Media Nova who works so hard to produce this magazine and all those who’ve added their voices and talents to our mix. These are interesting times for the industry and we look forward to continuing to produce an informative and entertaining publication that celebrates the people, places and perspectives of South African property.”

It’s been four years since The Property Magazine first embraced the Western Cape, with Gauteng and Kwazulu-Natal issues hot on its heels. Now on a national audited circulation of 108 000 copies per month and with an audited readership of 326 000, The Property Magazine is no stranger to awards, having won a 2007 PICA Award in the leisure category. The Property Magazine website is also gaining huge momentum having recently launched its rentals section and innovative digital magazine technology.

“It is a tremendous honour to win this award from SAPOA and to complete the double in being formally recognised by our peers in the publishing world with 2 pica awards and now from the very industry that inspired us to create the title in the first place. Niche titles are the future of publishing worldwide, for the increasingly busy consumer who wants to focus specifically in their area of interest and also for the advertisers who want to ensure that their brand cost effectively reaches their desired market.” says Tony Vaughan, Managing Director of Media Nova, publishers of The Property Magazine.

Launch of Sandton

Michele Alexander and Zeze Mcgina join Media Nova

Media Nova has once again had to extend their team to accommodate the growth within its stable of magazine titles. This follows the successful launch last week of their new magazine, Sandton.

With Warren Uytenbogaardt moving over from The Property Magazine to Sandton magazine as Art Director, Michele Alexander joins the creative team on The Property Magazine as Senior Designer. Previously with Drum, You and Huisgenoot, Michele is no stranger to the demands placed on a creative team within a publishing environment.

Zeze Mgcina joins Media Nova as Marketing Co-ordinator across both titles, bringing skills honed in diverse marketing environments, energy and focus to the dynamic and innovative Media Nova marketing team. Zeze, who will be based in Gauteng, has a passion for property and is thrilled to be working on a high-circulation title like The Property Magazine, which currently enjoys circulation of more than 108 000. And, having lived in Johannesburg’s greater northern suburbs all her life, Zeze firmly believes that Sandton magazine’s core values flow through her veins, and is delighted to be bringing Sandton closer to its readers.

Highly Anticipated Sandton Magazine Launches

Sandton CoverAward-winning publishers, Media Nova, launched their highly anticipated new glossy magazine, Sandton, on Thursday evening as Jo’burg’s A-list walked the red carpet for the roof-top event which has already been labelled “the launch of the year”.

“It’s taken us a year since initial discussions started with this title until the launch this week”, says Media Nova MD, Tony Vaughan. “We felt obligated to deliver a glossy publication that best represented Africa’s wealthiest mecca and I firmly believe we have done just that. Sandton is also the ideal niche publication to add to our stable along with our multi-award winning glossy, The Property Magazine, which has a monthly circulation of 108 000.”

As Hollywood premier-style Klieg lights pierced the Sandton sky and top comedy personality Marc Lottering took to the stage, 400 media personalities, schlebs, big business icons, cultural mavens and top-end retailers attended the exclusive event that saw Sandton’s cover breathe for the first time.

Sandton magazine, a “celebration brand”, will cater to the lifestyle needs of the district’s top-end residential, tourist and business communities that is the economic, social and retail pulse-point of the African continent.

Sandton will have an initial print-run of 30 000 (15 000 copies hand-delivered to Sandton’s finest homes, with another 7 500 distributed to Sandton hotel rooms, including iconic hospitality brands like The Westcliff and the balance is sold nationally at selected retail outlets).

“Sandton is a highly covetable brand. In many ways, our readership is our content”, says Sandton editor, Josef Talotta, “and we have the best editorial playground between Cairo and Cape Town.”
