Media Nova at Decorex Joburg

vq6k7663_1.JPGOver the last few years readers will have seen The Property Magazine at Decorex shows across the country – always looking fabulous! And for the first time, Sandton magazine had the chance to take up a stand. Boy, did we blow onlookers away.

Of course, being  glossy lifestyle magazines, exceptional work was done on our stands. Clean, sophisticated and modern; keeping to our customary colour scheme of black, red and white. The Bakos Brothers did The Property Magazine proud – one would expect nothing less from this interiors giant!

La Grange Interiors couldn’t have done a more superb job on our Sandton stand with a neutral, rustic look. There must have been more visitors stopping to admire the furniture than the magazine itself.

Because the two stands, with their individual personalities, had adjacent positioning, we had to separate them somehow. Enter ‘The Dog’ … a larger than life 3m x 2m interchangeable magazine billboard designed and built for the Bow Wow campaign, a design competition hosted by ID Solutions in collaboration with Design Indaba and Magis. On one side you’ll find a cover of Sandton magazine with the head end of a Magis dog and the other the cover of The Property Magazine with the back end.

vq6k7641_1.JPGA big thank you to our stand designers and Brand-Aid for their stunning work this year!

Then, for our second year running the Decorex/ The Property Magazine Green Stand Award, we found an abundance of stands promoting environmentally friendly products and services, but the stand that took the cake was Black Chilli Design.

Aslam Mahomed, owner of Black Chilli Design, created an eco-friendly dining room setting on his Sanlam New Generation Style Shapers stand using bits and bobs from everyday life that anyone could acquire.

Congratulations to Aslam Mahomed of Black Chilli Design on his Green Stand Award win. He has received a two-night getaway for two at the V&A Marina Residential in Cape Town compliments of Proproperty.com and Home from Home Hospitality.

Cape Town Tourism Partners with Media Nova

ct1.jpgTwo award-winning organisations – Media Nova and Cape Town Tourism – have formed a partnership to produce the all-important 2009/2010 Cape Town Official Visitors’ Guide. In a recent double-tender battle, Media Nova was awarded a three-year contract to produce and manage the full spectrum of services associated with the Cape Town Official Visitors’ Guide.

Since its inception six years ago, Media Nova has been at the forefront of innovation in publishing, with top lifestyle titles such as The Property Magazine and Sandton magazine. Now offering a fully fledged Custom Titles division, Media Nova is once again pushing boundaries.

Managing Director of Media Nova, Tony Vaughan, says, “Through The Property Magazine we have been celebrating Cape Town editorially and visually for over five years. To partner with Cape Town Tourism to bring our combined experience to bear promises the visitor to Cape Town a truly memorable guide of this amazingly beautiful city.”

As part of its tender document, Media Nova presented Cape Town Tourism with a variety of options and formats that could be applied to the Cape Town Official Visitors’ Guide. Media Nova’s first innovation was to increase the dimensions of the Cape Town Official Visitors’ Guide, giving visitors and advertisers a larger canvas. Second, it was proposed by Media Nova that the Cape Town Official Visitors’ Guide be published as two guides over the next 12 months. The first release will be published in November 2009 to facilitate the influx of high-season visitors, with a second edition containing updated editorial content focusing on the 2010 FIFA Soccer World Cup hitting the streets in June next year. Each edition will have a print-run of 200 000 copies, which will be distributed via key distribution point throughout the Mother City. The 2009/2010 Cape Town Official Visitors’ Guide will also be featured as the guidebook of choice at international trade shows and events.

Commenting on the appointment of Media Nova, Cape Town Tourism CEO, Mariëtte du Toit-Helmbold, says she is looking forward to the creation of Cape Town Tourism’s best Official Visitors’ Guide ever. “We want to create more than an authoritative guide to the city; we want visitors to consider this a souvenir. We believe that Media Nova will help us produce something that is interesting, informative, creative and attractive.”

The Property Magazine adds insight with Investment Matters

Media Nova MD, Tony Vaughan, has come up with an innovative way for his flagship publication, The Property Magazine to make the most of the current economic downturn. He’s launched Investment Matters, a section covering the most relevant and dynamic editorial about where and how people live today, combined with leading news and opinion.

His timing is perfect. The property market has started to bounce back from the economic downturn, and the nation is looking forward in anticipation to the thousands of prospective investors arriving for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

“As a truly local title, The Property Magazine is not constrained by any international magazine licensing agreement, thus enabling us to move with the times and offer our readers great insight into what’s happening locally and overseas in this important sector,” Vaughan explained.

Kicking off nationally in the magazine’s August 2009 edition, Investment Matters will be published over a minimum of nine pages each month, divided into four two-page sections, each covering one of the following hot investment areas:

·  “Green Building Matters” – Investment opportunities presented by the growing environmental awareness across the globe;

·  “Residential Matters” – Entering the residential property sector and optimizing the investments therein;

·  “Commercial Matters” – Profiting through investments in office space, retail, shopping centres and industrial zones;

·  “Auction Matters” – Investment advice, guidance, news and views about this increasingly popular method of purchase and sale of property.

The Property Magazine is regarded as the definitive reference publication for home readers and industry leaders alike.  Investment Matters will give advertisers the ideal opportunity to align their advertising message with like-minded existing and prospective clients through a punchy, informative and attractive editorial package.

Magazine turned status symbol celebrates fifth anniversary

news-flash-prop-banner-red.jpg

Besides being a compelling read from cover to cover, and apart from having revolutionised the free-to-home distribution module in South Africa, The Property Magazine, published by Media Nova (Pty) Ltd, reaches another milestone as it celebrates its fifth anniversary with a special April edition.

Says Managing Director of Media Nova, Tony Vaughan, ‘I think that it’s fair to say that if someone had walked into the offices of any publishing company in South Africa nearly six years ago and said, “I’ve got a great idea that involves giving away nearly six million copies of a high quality, editorially led, oversized magazine”, they would have been escorted from the building by men in white coats.’

Known as ‘the big red one’, The Property Magazine is now much more than a magazine. It has become a status symbol. As such, it’s often worked strategically into a conversation. Because these days you’re only keeping up with the Jones’s if you qualify to have your latest copy of The Property Magazine delivered to your home – for free! Why? Because for the past five years, AB-income homes in the most affluent suburbs of South Africa have consistently received their copy of The Property Magazine month after month – a distribution model that has won Media Nova awards since conception.

This April, The Property Magazine celebrates with its 419 000-strong readership (AMPS2008B) with a one-on-one exclusive interview with hospitality legend Sol Kerzner, a look at Percy Montgomery’s first house and a peek into the homes of South Africa’s leading décor magazine editors.

Tony continues: ‘Successful publishing today is about identifying niche titles, questioning the rules that magazines are published by – whether its about securing advertising revenue or planning editorial strategies – and taking your reader more seriously than ever before’. For those who don’t live next door to the Jones’s, The Property Magazine is on sale at retailers countrywide, and online at www.thepropertymag.co.za.
